Sense Capsules
This series is about the inspiration that our five senses give us. Smell, taste, vision, touch, audition. The constant presence of two metaphorical senses: Intuition and connection with the universe, the divinity. Each one has correspondence to each of the seven chakras of the human body and the light spectrum.
Series title: “Capsules of senses.”
Materials: Perfume bottles, borosilicate glass and LED light.
Dimensions: 28 x 19 x 19 cm each.
Year: 2014
Is a former part of the participative art project “Essence”, in which people of Colombia stopped to think about what aspects of living were relevant and inspirational, and wrote them as messages to accompany their empty perfume bottles. 78 persons get involved and almost 240 perfume bottles donations were recollected with the sponsorship of the Colombian company Fedco in their stores. The intention behind the sentences was the immaterial matter and their bottles the objects that will embody them, working with the metaphor of the shipwrecker that need to be rescued to live. I believe that we are able to recognize our most beautiful, simple and strengthen aspects as society. The superficial and profound aspects of our psyche get mixed into a celebration to live, resilience and desire.
